JAZZ AGE: It’s the first Friday of the 19th annual Jazz in the Garden summer series. Friday’s kick-off features Brazilian folk jazz courtesy of Rob Curto’s Forró for All. (National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden, 5 p.m.-8:30 p.m., FREE)

CULINARY ARTS:(who’s afraid of red, yellow, and green) is the Hirshhorn’s first major exhibition of Thai artist Rirkrit Tiravanija’s work. The display includes a massive mural, and also transforms the space into a communal dining area, serving up a mysterious “culinary component” from Thursdays-Sundays from 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. (Hirshhorn, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., FREE, runs through July 24)

QUIET SIGNS: Across the nine tracks of Quiet Signs, her critically acclaimed album released in February, Los Angeles artist Jessica Pratt explores sonic space, building arrangements with shadowy, swirling textures. Toronto musician Joseph Shabason, whose work has appeared on records by Destroyer and the War on Drugs, opens. (The Miracle Theatre, 6:30 p.m. doors, 8 p.m. show, $15)

GO RIDE A BIKE: The DC Bike Ride is your opportunity to cruise around D.C. on car-free streets. The annual event starting in West Potomac Park clears 20 miles of road for cyclists. After you’re done, there’s a finish festival that includes a BBQ pit stop, a block party, and photo ops. (West Potomac Park, 8 a.m., $70+)

PROUD: The annual Capital Trans Pride celebration takes place this weekend with two days of programming. On Saturday, the Eaton DC is hosting various workshops and resource fair. The evening concludes with a keynote address from Cecilia Gentili and a happy hour and movie screening at Studio Theatre. (Eaton Hotel DC, 9 a.m.-4 p.m., FREE)

BLUE AND WHITE: Whistler in Watercolor, which continues through October 6, represents the first major display of James McNeill Whistler’s watercolor art at the Freer Gallery since the 1930s. While you’re there, check out the Peacock Room, which now features 170 pieces of the museum’s blue-and-white porcelain collection. (Freer Sackler, 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m., FREE)

RUN AND RALLY: Get your sweat on at SweatCon, a bar crawl-style rally that takes you to different fitness studios for sessions all over town.
