Summer movie season is back and all we can say is we hope you like Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The Oscar-winning animated movie is to 2019 what La La Land was to 2017, in that nearly every D.C.-area outdoor film series is screening it. Here’s your guide to the best places to see that movie and dozens of others in the great outdoors. Unless noted, these outdoor screenings are free, and allow viewers to bring chairs and blankets for maximum vegging out.
D.C.
Where: Adams Morgan Soccer Field, California and Florida streets NW
When: 8 p.m. Tuesdays
What to know: This is the series for foodies: Nearby eateries will have brown bag specials to enjoy while you view. Perry’s will be selling bento box dinners, for example, and Tryst will be offering a special popcorn trail mix with the purchase of a Coke.

June 11: Apollo 11 (The National Air and Space Museum will lead a discussion on the documentary before showtime)

What to know: This one is ticketed: Single film tickets are $6 each, and it’s $25 for a pass to the whole series. The museum recommends getting there early—the doors open at 7:30 p.m. (half an hour early for Dumbarton House members). You’re welcome to pack your own picnic (as long as there’s no glass) or purchase concessions on site.

What to know: Each film gets a special addition from what you might have seen in the theater: a new soundtrack combining hip hop and soul, mixed live at the event by DJ 2-Tone Jones. If you arrive starting at 7:30 p.m., there are outdoor games, martial arts demonstrations, and complimentary popcorn.
