The Women’s World Cup has been in full swing since Friday, and this afternoon, the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team gets in the action with its first game of the tournament. The team’s match against Thailand starts at 3 p.m.—here’s where you can watch the game live across the District.
DC Beer is hosting a watch party at ChurchKey. Watch the game on every screen in the bar, as well as on a huge projector screen in the front parlour. There will also be $5 draft beers on sale, and a variety of deals on classic American cuisine, including a half-smoked sausage sandwich with caramelized peppers and onions, and pickled chilis. Opaline Bar and Brasserie is hosting another of its watch parties beginning at 3 p.m. today. You’ll be able to watch the game on the big screen while enjoying a variety of draft beers for $8 each, including DC Brau Corruption IPA, Atlas District Commons Craft Lager, and more. While you watch, you can indulge in some of executive chef Kevin Lalli’s internationally-themed cuisine, with dishes on the menu changing each day to represent food from the country of the opposing team. Come and watch the game at Mackey’s Public House, where you can find food from Astro Doughnuts & Fried Chicken. You can also snag deals on drinks, including $18 for a pitcher of Miller Lite or PBR, and $6.50 for a can of Oskar Blues. If you want to watch the game in the sun today, National Harbor will be showing it right by the waterfront. The harbor’s World Cup watch parties include beverage service and specials on food and drink, as well as events with different embassies, and meet-and-greets with Washington Spirit players. Fado Irish Pub is also holding a watch party for every FIFA Women’s World Cup match, including a showing of team USA vs. Thailand today at 3 p.m. You can also catch their specials on food and drink—including buckets of beer—while you’re there. (Fado Irish Pub, 3 p.m.)
At Franklin Hall, District Sports, Pink Boots Society, and Girls Who Pint Out will host a “Who Run the World: A Women’s World Cup Tap Takeover” event. They’ll be featuring eight to 10 different breweries, specifically presenting some of their favorite beers made by women in the industry. The takeover will be running for each U.S. women’s game, and all proceeds from the sales will be donated to Pink Boots Society and Girls Pint Out. (Franklin Hall, 3 p.m.)
The Midlands on Georgia Ave. is also hosting a watch party for each game. Check out their specials from Denizens Brewing Co, benefitting the Casa Ruby LGBT Community Center. They’re also selling cold brew Irish coffee from Alchemist Coffee Company. (The Midlands, open now)
