Hello D.C. denizens, we’re now officially halfway through July, which is kind of crazy to think about. There’s still time to get in on some fun outdoor movie screenings, summer jogs, bar bingo, concerts, and even some politics. All of that and more, below.
MONDAY, JULY 15
THAT’S A BINGO: DC Fray will host Bar Bingo at Pizzeria Paradiso in Georgetown on Monday, for those who are looking to try their luck at winning a game. Free to play, with free prizes, this is a great, well, free way to get your week started off right. (Pizzeria Paradiso Georgetown, 7 p.m.-9 p.m., FREE with registration)
HONKY-TALK: Country singer and star of Netflix’s Westside Alexandra Kay will visit D.C.’s Hard Rock Cafe to perform as a part of her larger 2019 tour. Promising a personal and intimate show (it’ll be just her and guitar), she’ll have have selections from the show, as well as country takes on the Eagles. (Hard Rock Cafe, 8 p.m.-11 p.m., $15)
FESTIVE: The eighth-annual PBS Online Festival gets going on Monday. Promising a bold collection of diverse stories, viewers will be able to watch all the shorts online and vote for their favorite over an eleven day period. This opening party includes a grouping of the selected shorts on screen at the Howard Theatre. (Howard Theatre, 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m., FREE with registration)
PAINTED PLANTS: If you’ve yet to get your fill of painting events in the District, Shop Made in DC’s Wharf location is going to host a workshop with your chance to paint your favorite greens. Hosted by D.C. artist Lex Marie, the event will include acrylic paint and a canvas for you to get in touch with your inner Van Gogh. (Shop Made in DC at The Wharf, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., $40)

TUESDAY, JULY 16
CRUSHIN’: Malaysian singer-songwriter (and MySpace phenom) Yuna will play 9:30 Club as part of her U.S. tour. The performer has seen a steady rise in fame over the last several years: Check out her performance above and you’ll be hooked. (9:30 Club, 7 p.m., $25)
KNOCK KNOCK: One of the year’s best documentaries, Knock Down the House, will screen at AFI Silver on Tuesday night. The Netflix doc chronicles the political races of four progressive Democrats: Amy Vilela, Cori Bush, Paul Jean Swearegin, and oh yeah, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. There will also be a post-event discussion about the film. (AFI Silver, 7 p.m.-10 p.m., FREE with registration)
I FOUGHT THE (TECH) LAW: In an event that could only happen in D.C., Buffalo Billiards (God rest its soul) will host the Foundry’s Trivia Night, focused on tech law. Yes you right that right, it’s a trivia contest focused on Internet law and policy. If you know the difference between your torts and your discussions and know more about the Internet than anyone else, this is for you. (Buffalo Billiards, 6 p.m.-10 p.m., FREE with registration)
FIGHT NIGHT: If the debates a few weeks ago weren’t enough for you, political pundits David Axelrod and Karl Rove will square off in lecture series moderated by journalist Ann Compton. In what’s sure to be a lively conversation, the two will discuss “leadership in an age of political conflict.” (Library Of Congress Thomas Jefferson Building, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m., FREE with registration)

WEDNESDAY, JULY 17
BEND IT: Considering the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team’s victory, it seems beyond fitting that this week’s NoMa film screening is the soccer favorite Bend it Like Beckham. While you’ll get a chance to watch a beloved Keira Knightley performance, DC United will also be present—complete with mascot Talon—for your chance to win some cool swag. WORK IT: If you want to see what local D.C. women’s fashion designers are working up, the Georgetown Fashion Show will offer up some of the coolest, boldest new looks from their Fall 2020 collections. Oh, and after? There will be a yacht party. The cost of the VIP ticket includes front row seats, champagne and cocktails, and entrance to the aforementioned yacht party. WILL RUN FOR TACOS: Running and tacos aren’t just a combo made for cheeky workout tanks. On Wednesday, you can join Potomac River Running and Chaia Tacos for a fun run. A four mile jog will take you around the National Mall before you’re off to enjoy some of the best tacos in the District. Participants will receive a free drink with taco purchase. YOU GOTTA BE KITTEN ME: You’ve heard of goat yoga but what about kitten yoga? Head out to Arlington on Thursday and you can practice your pose while a bunch of furry felines roam amongst you, all while benefiting the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. But the most important question is this: Will downward dog be renamed to something cat-themed? (Animal Welfare League of Arlington, 6 p.m.-7 p.m., $35)
TALE AS OLD AS TIME: If you’re jonesing for a bit of classic, animated Disney nostalgia ahead of The Lion King remake that’s releasing on Friday, the Library of Congress will screen Beauty and the Beast on the lawn as part of their summer movie series.
