MONDAY, AUGUST 26
VITAL: In honor of Women’s Equality Day, non-profit Vital Voices will host a special Women’s Empowerment Trivial Night at Shaw’s Right Proper brewpub. The organization is focused on identifying and partnering with women leaders around the world to help inspire change and proceeds from the event will go to benefit the organization. (Right Proper, 7 p.m.-10 p.m., $10)
ACA-YEAH: A cappella all-stars Pentatonix will bring their world tour to the D.C. area on Monday evening at Merriweather. The three-time Grammy winners with masterful vocal arrangements put together a family friendly show that’s chock full of pop and classic rock covers. PROM NIGHT: As part of AFI Silver’s United Artists Centennial Retrospective, the film institution will screen the Brian De Palma classic Carrie. The beloved Stephen King adaptation is a perfect film to watch as more and more of his novels find their way to the big screen this fall (including the forthcoming IT: Chapter 2 and Doctor Sleep). It’s also a good reminder that no matter how bad your prom may have been, it definitely isn’t any worse than Carrie’s! (AFI Silver, 9:30 p.m., $13)
YOGGIN: As summer winds down, cooler weather will bring relief from all this hot, hot heat—which makes evenings a near perfect temperature for running. Lululemon’s Clarendon location will begin the first of three week’s worth of runs over the Key Bridge. With two different paths for different experience levels, there’s something for runners of all paces. (lululemon Clarendon, 6:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m FREE with registration)

TUESDAY, AUGUST 27
STUNG: Sting will perform at Wolf Trap on Tuesday evening, bringing a setlist of Police favorites and some solo numbers. Like other performers with a single name (Cher, Madonna) he’s an iconic talent. (Wolf Trap, 8 p.m.-11 p.m., $55)
CLASSIC: The Federalist will host a screening of the courtroom classic Anatomy of a Murder at Landmark E Street. Starring James Stewart, Lee Remick, George C. Scott and Ben Gazarra, the screening will also feature a post film Q&A from law professor Randy Barnett. (Landmark E Street, 6 p.m.-9:15 p.m., $10)
FACE PAINT: Halloween is still a ways away, but you can go ahead and get started on decorating now with Palette 22’s El Jimador Skull painting party. The restaurant will offer El Jimador-based cocktails and bites from their menu while you decorate your own skull to fit whatever vibes you’re trying to bring to your fall. (Palette 22, 7 p.m.-9 p.m., $44.22)
TASTERS: If you’ve been looking for a chance to taste something special from Haidar Karoum’s award-winning Chloe, Tuesday’s tasting menu is a good opportunity. The full tasting experience will take place in an intimate setting and will feature a wine pairing. Furthermore, all ticket sales will go towards Generosity Global, which helps serve the homeless population in Baltimore. (Chloe, 7 p.m.-10 p.m., $125)

SPARKLE: If you’ve yet to get your fill of summer—and most importantly, rosé—Kingbird will be having another of its Rosé Nights to help you embrace both the last bits of summer and as much rosé as you can handle. The tasting will also have a variety of food selections, including lobster tail, shrimp, eggplant caviar, and more. (Kingbird, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., $55)
A DREAM: August 28 marks the 56th anniversary of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s “I Have a Dream” speech. To pay tribute to that, the nonprofit organization Washington, DC History & Culture will guide participants through a walking tour of the National Mall that will honor the life and contributions of Dr. King, including that historic speech. TWO-WHEELERS: The key to ensuring a good biking experience to making sure your ride is maintained. With that in mind, the Ivy City location of BicycleSPACE will host a Women’s Bicycle Maintenance class that covers fixing a flat, checking your bike before setting out for a ride, and more. WAIT WAIT: NPR’s beloved quiz and comedy show Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me will have a live show at Wolf Trap on Thursday evening. Peter Sagal and Bill Kurtis will be in attendance, along with panelists Peter Grosz, Negin Farsad, and Faith Salie in what’s bound to a lively, quippy evening. (Wolf Trap, 8 p.m., $45)
A SHRUBBERY!: Shrubs are some of the most refreshing additions to a summer drink, but they’re certainly not summer-only treats. Common Good City Farm’s latest DIY class teaches attendees how to take seasonal veggies and fruit and turn them into something delicious. (Common Good City Farm, 6:30 p.m.-8 p.m., $30)
SHAKE OR STIR: Mess Hall will host a cocktail class that’s all about the nitty-gritty details of perfecting your favorite cocktail. Focused on three classes of cocktail—fizzes, sours, and lowballs—it’s a primer for any aspiring bartender. (Mess Hall, 6 p.m.-8 p.m., $50)
BOOK NIGHT: The Wing’s Georgetown location will host a discussion of Elaine Welteroth’s new book, More Than Enough, detailing how she broke barriers and made a name for herself in the world of journalism.
