Cooler temperatures ahead! Get outside and hit a festival this weekend now that fall’s finally on the horizon (maybe?).

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6

STARGAZING SCENE: It’s the end of an era as the Zeiss star projector at the National Air and Space Museum’s Albert Einstein Planetarium enters retirement. See the machine’s final performance at An Evening Under the Stars: Planetarium Farewell. (National Air and Space Museum, 7 p.m.-10 p.m., $8+)

MUSEUM MOMENT: Reparations Realized, a new exhibition that continues through October 13, considers the notion of reparations across various mediums. The display, curated by Monique Muse Dodd and opening Friday, features art by Ada Pinkston, Dee Dwyer, Deyanne Moses, Denae Howard, Lionel Fraizer White ii, and Hadaiyah (Yaya) Bey. NEW SPACE: The newest expanse of the Kennedy Center includes more than 130,000 square feet of greenery and 3 new pavilions. The REACH kicks off its opening festival, entitled “The Future Is Now and I Am It: A Parade to Mark the Moment,” with performances from the Chuck Brown Band, the National Symphony Orchestra, and more. CELEBREMOS: The highly-anticipated Latin American food hall La Cosecha opens with a block party and concert celebration, Calle Latina. The day features performances from Ozomatli and DJ sets, plus arts and crafts, cooking demos, and vendor pop-ups. (1280 4th St NE, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., FREE)

ICY TREATS: Sure, Labor Day’s a distant memory by this point, but ice cream is no seasonal dessert: It’s a year-round (and global) pastime. Gelato Festival America: Washington, D.C. celebrates the sweet treat with an all-you-can-eat sampling of flavors. (City Market at O, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., $10 kids/$20 seniors and veterans/$25 adults)

BOP STEADY: The 29th annual Rosslyn Jazz Fest 2019 boasts a stellar lineup featuring the Suffers and Leyla McCalla, formerly of the Carolina Chocolate Drops, among others. Come for the tunes, stay for the food trucks and beer and wine garden. (Arlington Gateway Park, 1 p.m.-7 p.m., FREE)

DISTRICT PRIDE: The DC State Fair pays tribute to all things handmade and homegrown featuring local arts and crafts and food vendors, plus nonprofits and governmental agencies. The day’s event also includes performances from area artists and traditional fair contests, including Best Homebrew and Best Pie. (Gateway DC, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., FREE)

ADMO TIME: Celebrate the spirit of 18th Street at Adams Morgan Day, the longest-running neighborhood festival in D.C. With music spread across two stages, plus demonstrations at the performance plaza and artists’ tent at 18th and Belmont and 18th and Kalorama respectively. (Adams Morgan, 12 p.m.-6 p.m., FREE)

DRINK UP: Prepare to sip and savor. DC Beer Week begins a slate of programming with a kickoff party at Bluejacket. The festivities include the Official Tapping of the Solidarity Brew Gravity Keg and Opening Ceremonies, plus you can try the official beer of DC Beer Week, Solidarity Beer 2019.
