There’s a reason you might be seeing way more pugs than usual around town next weekend.

Pugs and their owners are set to gather in D.C. for a #pugstakeDC 2019, a fundraiser from the organization Pug Takeovers to raise money for pug rescues all over the region. Pups of all breeds and owners are welcome to attend all events throughout the weekend.

Even though the events are free to attend, guests are encouraged to buy $5 raffle tickets during the Pug Pawty & Raffle to Benefit Rescue fundraiser, which will take place at Wunder Garten on Oct. 26 from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. There, guests can enjoy snacks and drinks available for purchase, and shop for raffle prizes while mingling with their pugs.

All proceeds go to the Mid-Atlantic Pug Rescue, a nonprofit that helps homeless pugs find homes. The group serves North and South Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia, and Eastern Tennessee.

This is the third time the four-year-old organization has held the event in the District, with the last event held here in 2017. The pooch-themed fundraisers have also raised money in Philadelphia, New York, Boston, and Chicago, where organizers say they raised $10,000 earlier this year.

The weekend also includes an off-leash meet and greet at NoMa’s Swampoodle Dog Park from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Oct. 26. The pre-fundraiser event is open to “pugs and pug people,” according to a release.

It all ends with a meetup of pugs on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial at 10:30 a.m. on Oct. 27. Organizers say they’re planning to take a group pug photo—be sure to bring your own camera to snap a “pawfect” shot.

It’s not the first dog species to stage a party at the National Mall: The annual Million Corgi March attracted hundreds of four-legged friends—many in costume—last fall.

#pugstakedc 2019 takes place at various locations from October 26-27.
