If the Houston Astros can secure a win this weekend, President Donald Trump plans to attend Game 5 of the World Series at Nationals Park on Sunday, he told reporters on Thursday.

But Trump will not be participating in the century-old presidential tradition throwing out the first pitch at significant baseball games. Since 1910, presidents have been taking the mound at opening day, All-Star, and World Series games.

The Nationals announced that José Andrés, a renowned D.C. restaurant owner and outspoken activist, will be throwing the first pitch of Game 5. (For the full line-up of ceremonial pitches, see here.) Andrés has been openly critical of the president and was enmeshed in lawsuits with the Trump Organization after pulling the plug on a restaurant at Trump International Hotel in D.C. in 2015. “Donald Trump’s recent statements disparaging immigrants make it impossible for my company and I to move forward with opening a successful Spanish restaurant in Trump International’s upcoming hotel in Washington, D.C.,” he said at the time.

Trump’s visit to Nationals Park would mark one of his few appearances around the city in which he currently lives, aside from trips to his D.C. hotel.

Before his presidency, Trump threw out the ceremonial first pitches at Fenway Park and Wrigley Field, but since taking office, Trump has maintained a relatively low profile when it comes to sporting events. Sunday’s game would mark his first appearance at a Major League Baseball game, and his first time at a D.C. sports game. (He did invite the Washington Capitals team to the White House after their 2018 Stanley Cup win—it’s unclear if he’ll invite the championship Washington Mystics to the Oval Office this year.)

When asked by a reporter on Thursday if he would be throwing out the first pitch, Trump responded saying, “They’ve got to dress me up in a lot of heavy armor—I’ll look too heavy,” referring to protective measures that would be taken by the Secret Service if he were to take the field.

Trump’s attendance on Sunday will be sure to cause controversy and additional traffic around the stadium. Here’s our tips for navigating Nationals Park during the series.

While Andrés says on Twitter that he is “humbled by the invitation” to throw the first pitch, he’s hoping the Nationals sweep the series, scuttling plans for a Game 5: “I really hope that by Saturday night all of WASHINGTON will be celebrating that the @Nationals are the 2019 @MLB World Series Champions.”
