Nationals fans attending Game 7 watch parties around Navy Yard and the downtown area will be able to take Metro home after the World Series concludes Wednesday night.
Four stations located near major watch party events will stay open an hour after the game ends. The system usually closes at 11:30 p.m. on weekdays.
Trains will continue running on all lines until everyone is accommodated, Metro said in a release. Metro also eliminated track work Wednesday night to allow for the extended service.
After 11:30 p.m., customers can enter Metrorail only at the following locations:
- Navy Yard-Ballpark
- Waterfront
- L’Enfant Plaza (7th and D Street SW or 7th and Maryland Ave SW entrances only)
- Gallery Place-Chinatown (Enter at 7th and F Street NW or 7th & H Street NW entrances only)
- All other stations will be exit only after 11:30 p.m.
Pepco is paying to keep the system open.
Metro General Manager Paul Wiedefeld said, “we are incredibly proud of our home team for their historic season, and we’ll all be showing our spirit on Metro tonight after the Nats finish the fight.”
Wiedefeld also thanked Metro’s frontline employees for flexibility and support.
“We owe our appreciation to them for making the personal sacrifices to work on short notice to keeps the trains running,” he said. “This wouldn’t be possible without them.”
