Art walk at the Embassy of Argentina

Take in photographs from Argentinian photographers during First Friday at the Embassy of Argentina. The embassy will display the work of José Andrés Basbus, who is known for his panoramic landscape postcards, and Cotty Oxenford will present Sinapsis, her photo collection of ethereal feathers. And of course, you can always check out the permanent collection, which covers some of the most important artistic movements in Argentina.
Embassy of Argentina, Friday, 6 p.m.-8 p.m.

Sing along with Sesame Street and more

This weekend, the John F. Kennedy Center will pay tribute to 2019 Kennedy Center Honorees. And in addition to the ceremony, that also means free music for you. Catch their Friday event honoring The Earth, Wind & Fire, where a tribute band will play hits like “Sing A Song” and “September.” On Saturday, the Kennedy Center will honor Sesame Street with a sing-along for children—and former children.
The Kennedy Center Millennium Stage, Friday, 6 p.m., Saturday, 6 p.m.

Watch festive boats on the Potomac River

Spend your Saturday out on the water at The Wharf’s 28th annual Holiday Boat Parade. The boat parade will kick off at 7 p.m., when 60 festive boats will float down the Potomac River. (Stick around until the end of the parade for a special fireworks finale.) The night will also include ornament painting, beer tasting, an open-pit for s’mores roasting, and a chance to get a photo with Santa. It’s also the annual lighting of The Wharf’s 40-foot tall Christmas tree.
The Wharf, Saturday, 6 p.m.-9 p.m.

Walk around at Winterfest

Washington Harbour will kick off its annual Winterfest this weekend. Catch a performance from Georgetown University’s Figure Skating Club, and check out deals on food and drinks. When you get tired of making laps on the ice rink, head to Georgetown GLOW, an interactive light exhibit that features 11 artists. Walk through light installations in the form of pretty lanterns, floating clouds, and tall grass plants.
Georgetown Waterfront, Saturday, 5 p.m.-8 p.m.

Create a unique holiday card

The Smithsonian’s National Postal Museum invites families to create unique holiday cards to send out to their loved ones. This workshop will provide patterned paper, postage, rubber stamps, gems, washi tape, and stickers to adorn your card with. When guests are finished with their cards, they may stamp it with a National Postal Museum postmark.
National Postal Museum, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
