This weekend, in what is perhaps an early Christmas present to the city, Metro is running blessedly normal service.

The only line you have to worry about even slightly is the Red Line, where trains will have slightly delayed intervals (every 16 minutes, though there will be extra trains every eight minutes between Van Ness and Glenmont for much of the day). The transit agency is installing cable and communication equipment in Red Line tunnels, which is causing the mild delay.

Every other line (yes, you read that right) is slated to run at normal weekend intervals: every 12-15 minutes.

Here are the details from WMATA:

Red Line

  • Trains every 16 minutes
  • Additional trains every 8 minutes between Van Ness and Glenmont from 9AM – 9PM
  • Due to installation of cable/communication equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system, trains will single track between Friendship Heights and Medical Center

Orange Line

  • Regular service, trains every 12-15 minutes

Silver Line

  • Regular service, trains every 12-15 minutes

Blue Line

  • Regular service, trains every 12-15 minutes.

Yellow Line

  • Regular service, trains every 12-15 minutes.

Green Line

  • Regular service, trains every 12-15 minutes.
