If you’re planning on leaving your house to ring in the new decade (or, not the new decade, depending on who you ask) you are sure to greet a rush of revelers trying to get home after the ball-drop. Luckily, you’ve got options for that post-celebration commute. The Metro is closing late, as is the streetcar, and there are some promotions available for ride-hailing services.
Here are the details:
Metro: Trains will be running until 2 a.m. on every line tomorrow night, allowing riders a way home well after the clock strikes midnight and the new year officially begins. There is no track work planned during the extended hours, and the transit agency will be charging off-peak fares. Last train times will vary by station, but you can figure it out by adding an hour to the posted Saturday “last train” times available here, per a Metro news release. On New Year’s Day, trains will run from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m.
Uber: Like last year, passengers can get up to $10 off their Uber rides using a code from law firm Scrofano Law, which partly specializes in DUI defense law. But the firm is only offering the promotion on up to 100 Uber rides, and the rides have to originate in D.C. between midnight and 4 a.m. You can obtain the code on the law firm’s website.
Lyft: The Washington Regional Alcohol Program, an organization that works to prevent drunk driving, is offering up to $15 off Lyft rides from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. You can find the promotion code at soberride.com. The organization has been providing discounted Lyft rides since December 20, but there will be a new code for New Year’s Eve. To claim the promotion, you have to be in Lyft’s Washington D.C. coverage area.
Streetcar: The streetcar on H Street NE is running extended hours, all the way to 2 a.m.
How about spending your New Year’s Eve on #HStNE? We’re running extended hours until 2:00 a.m.!
