Dance yourself silly at Habana Village
Standup and salsa dancing aren’t really known as bedfellows, but each Friday, Habana Village in Adams Morgan turns into a sort of one-stop shop for both. At 8 p.m., D.C. Comedy Collective puts on a free show of local up-and-coming comedians, and at 10, salsa, bachata, and merengue dancing begins on the second floor. Tables are available for reservation on the Eventbrite page.

Make something with the kids at the Kennedy Center
Part of the Kennedy Center’s whole focus with the enormous REACH annex is on teaching and learning—and apparently starting ’em young. Its primary classroom space, the Moonshot Studio, is open for free kids activities each weekend. Previous workshops have featured sketching, mixing beats with grown-up composers, and zoetrope-making, so clear off the fridge for a new masterpiece.
Kennedy Center’s The REACH, Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Get into NMWA for free
As is tradition, the first Saturday of each month is free entry at the National Museum of Women in the Arts. On the walls right now, find whimsical photos of women embracing the most dangerous parts of nature, new pieces from feminist artist Judy Chicago, and works from female artists in the Dutch Golden Age. Show up at 1 p.m. for the Fierce Women tour, which highlights “women who refused to let men define their place; thumbed their noses at the limited roles society accorded them; and blazed trails as artists, activists, and innovators.”
National Museum of Women in the Arts, Saturday, 12 p.m.-5 p.m.
Sing one last time at Gypsy Sally’s
The trio of big farewell shows for Georgetown bar and venue Gypsy Sally’s are sold out, but you still have a few chances to say goodbye. Sunny Trippel’s Friends Unlimited plays the intimate Vinyl Lounge in the back, and with the group’s energetic funk, don’t be surprised if it turns into a dance party. D.C. bassist Cory Belcher plays the Vinyl Lounge’s final show on Sunday. Both are free.
Gypsy Sally’s, Saturday, doors 5:30 p.m., show 7:30 p.m.
Run around H Street
The H Street corridor is surrounded by neighborhood streets that are perfect for getting lost on a jog … and bars well suited to the post-workout beer. Running shop Pacers is leading a 5.4-mile trek around the area’s streets. Afterwards, clink glasses with your fellow runners at a social at Duffy’s Irish Pub.
Pacers H Street, Sunday, 12 p.m.-3 p.m.
