All Metro lines will operate as usual over the holiday weekend, except for the Red Line, where four stations will be closed for work related to the integration of the light rail Purple Line.
The Silver Spring, Forest Glen, Wheaton, and Glenmont stations will each be closed from Saturday through Monday, January 20. Shuttle buses will replace trains between Takoma and Glenmont.
Between Shady Grove and Takoma, Red Line trains will run every 18 minutes. And trains will single track between Medical Center and Grosvenor-Strathmore to allow for the installment of new cell service cables.
On Martin Luther King Day, trains will operate on a Saturday schedule, departing every 12 minutes from endpoint stations. The system will open at 5 a.m. and close at 11:30 p.m. Parking will be free at all stations, and off-peak fares will be in effect throughout the day.
