HECKLE AWAY: Hecklers, now is your time. Park View’s Colony Club is hosting the Heckler’s Ball, a comedy show just for you. Prizes will be given to the best comics, hecklers and audience participants. Here’s the best part: All proceeds go to animals at the Humane Rescue Alliance. So, heckle for the doggos! IT TAKES TWO: Bring your date—or just yourself—and learn how to tango at Ultra Bar. Local master ballroom and tango instructors will head the lesson. The rest of the night will include music to test your skills with. (Ultra Bar, 8:30 p.m., $15)
WE GOT THE PINK: Explore color theory at the Hirshhorn Museum. This edition focuses on pink, so be prepared to explore the works of Pat Steir and other artists who are heavy-handed in applying pink to their creations. LUNAR NEW YEAR: The LINE DC which will be ringing in the Lunar New Year with a lion dance and dim sum. The lion dance will take place between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. and Brothers and Sisters will be offering a dim sum menu priced at $30. Spoken English will also have special menu items, including salt & pepper squid. Wear red for luck to ring in the Year of the Rat. (The LINE DC, 7 p.m., free entry)
BACK AGAIN: If you’ve enjoyed Story District’s spoken word shows in the past year, here’s your chance to enjoy them yet again. A panel of judges is bringing back their favorite storytellers from 2019 to do an encore of their best performances. Expect to laugh, cry, or even fall silent at average people tell their stories of first love, vacations, jobs, or embarrassing moments. (Lincoln Theatre, 8 p.m., $30-$40)
UNDERGROUND ART: Venture below ground for Dupont Underground’s first pop-up market. Over 50 vendors will be selling handmade creative products from jewelry to fashion. Entry is totally free. (Dupont Underground, noon, free entry)
POURS AND PIZZA: Sonny’s Pizza will be open for a late night wine party featuring unlimited pours. Wine will come specially picked from their cellar and if you get hungry, you can always grab a slice of pizza. Local DJ Laura Lopez will keep the party going all night. DOLPHIN TALK: Did you know there are dolphins in the Potomac? Well, get ready to meet Frederick Douglass, Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Pelosi — who are all dolphins, by the way. Hear from Georgetown University Professor Janet Mann who has extensively studied how these dolphins came to be our aquatic neighbors at this Profs & Pints event. (Bier Baron Tavern, 6 p.m., $12-$15)
RAISE MONEY: Party at Pitchers DC and slip money into the pouches of some sexy kangaroos (their words) to raise money for the people of Australia who have been impacted by recent wildfires. Pitchers DC is hoping to raise $15,000 with a drag show, raffle items, and good music. (Pitchers DC, 4 p.m., free entry)
CELEBRATE: This Lunar New Year celebration will take place at the Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art, featuring interactive art, musical performances, live magic, and food that capture the New Year celebrations in China, Korea, and Mongolia. Guests are encouraged to visit the Freer’s permanent Asian art collection as well as the Sackler’s exhibits on ancient bells in China and Korean Buddhism while they are at the museum. (Smithsonian National Museum of Asian Art, 11 a.m., FREE)
