That’s amore. This February, runners in the D.C. area can choose from a variety of races to run, whether it’s a race before the Super Bowl or one that doubles as a speed dating event. The majority of the races range in length from 5 kilometers (3.1 miles) to a marathon (26.2 miles).

Washington, D.C.: 2020 Battle of the Pigskin 5K and half

Mark Super Bowl Sunday morning by earning your endorphins with Operation Enduring Warrior. The Battle of the Pigskin event is held on the C&O Canal, which promises a flat out-and-back course on a dirt-to-gravel trail. Proceeds benefit Operation Enduring Warrior, an organization that supports wounded military service members and their families.

Sunday, February 2 // Half Marathon (13.1 miles) and 5K // $30 – $65.

Reston, VA: For the Love of It 10K

If you’re looking for something in between a 5K and a half marathon, you can also spend your Super Bowl Sunday running a 10K (6.2 miles) at South Lakes High School. All pre-registered runners are guaranteed a long sleeve shirt, finishers earn a medal, and there are free photos and awards. Be sure to stay for the after-party: once you cross the finish line there will be music, refreshments, and “Valentine treats.”

Sunday, February 2 // 10K // $45-50.

Washington, D.C.: Cupids Single Mingle Run

It’s like speed dating, but with more sweating. If you are single, enjoy running, and down to mingle, this is the event for you. In early February, the DC Running Club is hosting a 5K race followed by a brunch where each contestant has an opportunity to spend two minutes with each other. Bonus: each participant gets a t-shirt and the proceeds benefit the American Heart Association.

Saturday, February 8 // 5K // $30.

Washington, D.C.: Love The Run You’re With 5K

Run with your heart. On February 9th, join Pacers’ Running at the historic Congressional Cemetery for a love-themed race. Participants can expect a limited edition bag of coffee beans (Lost Sock Roasters x Pacers), a finishers mug, and refreshments at the finish. The event benefits the LGBT Veterans Memorial that advocates are raising money to build on the cemetery grounds.

Sunday, February 9  // 5K // $40.

Greenbelt, MD.: George Washington’s Birthday Marathon And Relay

It’s the allegedly longest-running marathon in the National Capital area. In mid-February, join the DC Road Runners for a marathon or marathon relay in Greenbelt, Maryland. There is over $1,500 in prize money, showers after the finish, and aid stations approximately every two miles. The best part? Runners are encouraged to stay for the indoor post-race party after the finish.

Sunday, February 16 // Marathon & Relay // $20 – $70.
