Go-go goes to the Kennedy Center
As a bill that would make go-go the official music of D.C. awaits a mayoral signature, the Kennedy Center will launch its “Go-Go 101” series at the Millennium Stage this Friday. Every month, the city’s hub for performing arts will feature different voices in go-go with educational discussions on the evolution of the genre. Big G will headline the first night of the series, along with other notable artists like Joe Clair, Tre, Michelle Blackwell, and DJ Alizay.

We all scream for (free) ice cream
D.C. ice cream joint Ice Cream Jubilee is partnering with plant-based treat company Eclipse Foods for two days of free scoops this weekend. The Yards Park and Ballston Quarter Ice Cream Jubilee locations will be handing out free scoops of their of new vegan flavors—banana bourbon caramel and Thai iced tea—on Saturday (which happens to be Ice Cream for Breakfast Day) and Sunday morning. Everything’s free, but you can RSVP to reserve your scoop ahead of time.

Vinyasa and Valentines
Whether you have a special someone or are riding stag through this Valentine’s Day, you can foster a little love for yourself with a free yoga flow on Saturday. Fitbit Local will be hosting a “Valentines and Vinyasa” yoga class to a the music of a live DJ at Hook Hall. The first 50 people will receive a free drink, and one yogi will win a free Fitbit. Register beforehand and show up with your mat, an ID, and some love.

Asko|Schönberg Visits The Library of Congress
On a “rare visit” to the U.S., European music ensemble Asko|Schönberg will be performing a two-part program at the Library of Congress, featuring 20th-century classics alongside more recent work. Dutch composer Martijn Padding will be holding a discussion before Friday’s 8 p.m. performance to speak about his latest works. Register for a seat beforehand to secure a spot.

Groundhog Day At The Park
We all know Punxsutawney Phil, but if you trust his D.C. counterpart Potomac Phil with your Groundhog Day verdict, gather in Dupont Circle on Sunday morning to hear his prediction. There will be live accordion music, polka dancing, a puppet show, and supposedly “VIP celebrities.” According to the Facebook event, Phil will make an appearance around 8:30, or “whenever he damn well pleases.”
