A Taco Bell Cantina in Las Vegas

These are times of great division in the District of Columbia. And no, I’m not talking about Nancy Pelosi.

I’m talking about the Taco Bell Cantina.

On Tuesday, WTOP confirmed rumors that a Taco Bell Cantina is coming to Columbia Heights. For some important background: Taco Bell Cantinas are larger versions of a standard Taco Bell, and most of them serve alcohol.

Following the news, D.C. internet was immediately—and intensely—split. Some people (full disclosure: I am among them) are excited about the Taco Bell Cantina. Others appear to find it deeply embarrassing that one might choose to eat at a Taco Bell Cantina in the only pocket of the city that contains a concentration of delicious Mexican restaurants. A fair enough point. To which I say: Taco Bell isn’t Mexican food and comparing it to such establishments is a useless exercise. But I digress. I’ll let those in the other Twitter camp speak for themselves:

Per WTOP, the exact address of the new Taco Bell hasn’t been released, and there’s no set timeline for its opening. Should you want a sneak peek of the experience, there’s one in Alexandria.

So, dear reader: Where do you stand?

What are your feelings about the Columbia Heights Taco Bell Cantina?

Pure, unadulterated excitement
It’s an embarrassment and no one should eat there
I extremely do not care
