We don’t have to wait until this summer’s three-station shutdown to have our lives and commutes disrupted by Metro maintenance. This very weekend, three lines will be running slow enough that you’ll want to consider another mode of transportation on Saturday and Sunday.

The Red Line will be running the slowest, every 18 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont. But there will also be additional trains every nine minutes between Friendship Heights and Glenmont for most of the day.

The Yellow and Green lines will both be running every 16 minutes, thanks to switch replacement and other maintenance work.

All the other lines will be running normal weekend service.

Here’s more from WMATA:

Red Line

  • Red Line trains operate every 18 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont.
  • Additional trains every 9 minutes between Friendship Heights and Glenmont from 9AM-9PM
  • Due to installation of cable/communications equipment to support cellular service in tunnels and new radio system, Red Line trains will single track between Medical Center and Grosvenor.

Orange Line

  • Regular weekend service, trains every 12 minutes on Saturday and 15 minutes on Sunday.

Silver Line

  • Regular weekend service, trains every 12 minutes on Saturday and 15 minutes on Sunday.
