Michelle Obama is the latest D.C. resident to urge Washingtonians to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic.
The former first lady and Kalorama resident has recorded a public service announcement with information about coronavirus testing and the city’s stay-at-home order. The announcement will be broadcast through robocalls and radio ads.
D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the new public service announcements during her daily coronavirus briefing on Monday morning. It’s part of the Bowser administration’s outreach efforts to vulnerable communities who are being hit disproportionately hard by the coronavirus pandemic.
“Early on in our response, the first lady’s office reached out to us to ask how she could help,” Bowser said.

In the ad, Obama also tells residents to stay home except to get essential healthcare, food or supplies, or to go to an essential job. She also tells residents to contact their medical provider immediately if they or a member of their household is experiencing fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, congestion, body aches, chills or a runny nose.
There are currently 10 public testing sites set up around the city. Residents can schedule a free testing appointment by calling their medical provider or calling D.C.’s English or Spanish hotline number.
