Editor’s note: DCist suspended its daily events guides in mid-March. But we’re bringing back weekday and weekend posts with ways to have virtual fun. We’ll be focused specifically on digital offerings from D.C.-area artists, musicians, fitness instructors, and others. (Want us to know about a virtual event? Submit them here.) And don’t forget about our guide to free movies, audiobooks, art, and other offerings from area institutions.
FRIDAY, MAY 29
CHEERS: Bring Franklin Hall and DC Brau right into your home with this virtual beer tasting in honor of Franklin Hall’s 2020 RAMMY Award nomination for Best Beer Program. A ticket for the beer tasting will get you six different beers, DC Brau swag, a custom Franklin Hall cookie, and a 90-minute tasting session with DC Brau’s head brewer. Proceeds will support DC Brau and profits will be donated to furloughed Franklin Hall staff. (6 p.m., $40)
WATCH PARTY: Celebrate the final weekend of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month by joining the DC Public Library for a watch party of The Farewell. The 2019 film can be found online from the library with your library card. Participants are asked to start the movie at 7 p.m. on Friday and then tune into the DC Public Library’s Twitter page for an interactive discussion using the hashtag #FarewellWatchParty. (7 p.m., FREE)
BELLY UP: Raven’s Night, a Halloween-themed show based in Alexandria, will be continuing its shows virtually with a Dungeons & Dragons-themed belly dance performance. Performers will blend tabletop and live-action role playing all while throwing in character-driven belly dancing. All proceeds will go toward supporting Raven’s Night 2021. (7:30 p.m., $7 suggested donation)

SATURDAY, MAY 30
GRAVEYARD SHIFT: Did you know that Congressional Cemetery is teeming with history? Although the cemetery is closed to the public, you can still learn all about it with a virtual guided tour. A Congressional Cemetery docent will be giving the Facebook Live tour and will run you through the cemetery’s histories and stories about their favorite residents. (11 a.m., FREE)
HOT RIDE: Looking for a used bike but not sure what to look for? Arlington’s nonprofit Phoenix Bikes will be talking about finding the perfect frame and style to find the next ride that’ll keep you going for years to come. Feel free to ask questions or bring your own experiences buying used bikes. (2 p.m., FREE)
BIRTHDAY PARTY: This entire weekend the Kennedy Center is celebrating the birthday of its namesake: President John F. Kennedy. The weekendlong celebration includes a number of events, including the airing of a previously unreleased 1962 fundraising concert featuring 1960s luminaries like Leonard Bernstein, Yo-Yo Ma, Marian Anderson, and, of course, the president and first lady Jackie Kennedy. (6 p.m., FREE)
DRAG BINGO: The Center for Black Equity is bringing back drag bingo. Registration includes one complimentary bingo board you can use for all four games. (7 p.m., FREE)
