The National Weather Service issued a tornado watch for the D.C. region on Thursday afternoon. The advisory includes D.C., Alexandria and Arlington County in Virginia, Anne Arundel and Charles counties in Maryland, and others.
The watch will remain in effect until 10 p.m.
The NWS also issued a flash flood warning for parts of D.C. and Montgomery, Prince George’s, and Arlington counties until 8:30 p.m.

A severe thunderstorm warning has also been issued for D.C. and parts of Maryland as a storm over Bladensburg moves east at 35 miles per hour, capable of producing wind gusts of 60 miles per hour. The storm could down trees and branches and cause localized power outages, according to NWS.
