TOAST TO MARILYN: Raise a glass to the restored Marilyn Monroe Mural in Woodley Park (which was first painted in 1981) by heading to a participating neighborhood restaurant, including District Kitchen, Open City, and Duke’s Counter, for a complimentary drink with purchase. A face mask emblazoned with the starlet’s image is also available for purchase with proceeds going towards helping small businesses in the neighborhood. ART IS LIFE: For its 20th anniversary, Art Night, the annual exhibition and fundraiser for the Washington Project for the Arts, has transformed into a month-long, virtual affair. Check out Art Month 2020 and browse (and shop!) the works of Monika Stroik, Roxana Azar, and more. Proceeds will be shared equally between the artist and WPA. SHHH: Spend your Monday evening under cover at a virtual version of the Spy Museum’s annual event, Mother, Daughter, Sister, Spy. Join runners, policy experts, and activists in jogging to all D.C. polling stations in an effort to highlight the importance of voting early. TOIL, TROUBLE, & TRIVIA: Channel the Sanderson sisters and prove your Hocus Pocus heft during trivia night at Pinstripes Georgetown. VOICE FOR ALL: Celebrate democracy with an evening of storytelling with the D.C. Public Library and Story District. I, Too, Sing America — which will stream on the library’s YouTube and Facebook pages — will feature five storytellers who will share their experiences, including a returning citizen whose voting rights have been restored; an activist who was on the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama, on Bloody Sunday in 1965; and a librarian who believes information access is key to democracy. PARTY ON: Sure, socially distant Halloween is going to have a different vibe, but local dream pop band Lavender is still having their Monster Mash Bash at DC9. This year, it’s going to be a live 5-camera fully produced show that’s going to be streamed live so that you can mash in your living room. For those who really want to be there in person, a few rooftop tables are going to be available with a full bar and kitchen. COVID-19 safety protocols will be in place, so make a mask a part of your costume. (7 p.m., $10 for the live stream, $40 for a rooftop table)
