Authorities are encouraging people to stay home during Joe Biden’s presidential inauguration next week and attend virtual events instead. We’re all used to such instructions by now, but the city—in times such as these—deserves some kind of celebration. Check out these take-out food and drink specials that might make an evening at home feel more festive.

Fight Club

The Capitol Hill sandwich shop Fight Club is reimagining President-elect Joe Biden’s favorite order from Delaware shop Capriotti’s, along with other special dishes and cocktails from now through Inauguration Day. For $15, the Thanksgiving-inspired “Biden’s Bobbie” is packed with turkey, sausage stuffing, potato mayo, and cranberry sauce — fittingly, the sandwich beat out a Trump-inspired hoagie in a landslide victory on Fight Club’s Election Day sandwich face off.

Vice President-elect Kamala Harris inspired Fight Club’s tuna melt, with spicy chips, American cheese, and a hard boiled egg (the California senator schooled Sen. Mark Warner in the art of making a “mean tuna melt” last year). Fight Club is also offering specialty ice cream sandwiches in honor of the President-elect’s self-described “performance enhancer.” (623 Pennsylvania Ave SE; patio service, take-out, delivery.)

Jack Rose Dining Saloon

Jack Rose is offering a “Boozy New Deal” Inauguration Kit, describing it as a “progressive four-course cocktail tasting showcasing American-made spirits.” The $75 package comes with four cocktail making kits, complete with instructions and garnishes. It starts with the Ameri-tivo, a bubbly, bitter aperitif starter, and finishes with a rich, American brandy house blend with heavy cream. (2007 18th St NW; available by Tock today through Inauguration Day).

Immigrant Food

Launching its new lunch menu, Immigrant Food is paying homage to the new VP and her Black and Asian heritage with “Madam VP’s Heritage Bowl.” Head chef Enrique Limardom, inspired by Harris’s Jamaican and Indian roots, crafted a bowl with coconut-milk curried chicken, chickpeas, potatoes, pineapples, plantains, and spicy peppers, served over turmeric rice and baby spinach. The menu also features Asian salmon and Napa salad, along with a golden cauliflower soup. (1701 Pennsylvania Ave NW; Takeout, delivery).

Pizzeria Paradiso

The wood-fire pizzeria is inviting locals to indulge in Biden’s infamous favorite food (did we mention he loves ice cream?) From Jan. 19 to Jan. 21, Pizzeria Paradiso will have a special menu with ice cream floats (with beer or root beer) featuring scoops of Ice Cream Jubilee. One option includes the inaugural Ice Cream Jubilee’s “Cuppa Joe” flavor, floated in Port City Porter. On Inauguration Day, guests who order a pizza get a free serving of chocolate chip ice cream. (Multiple locations; take-out & outdoor dining.)

Republic Restoratives

“MADAM Vice President. What a difference one word makes,” the women-owned distillery wrote in a post on Instagram, announcing its new collaboration with local artist Lex Marie. “It breaks glass ceilings. It paves the way for a generation of new leaders. It turns ‘never-been-done’ to ‘did.'”

The “Madam” whiskey is a blend of six-year-old bourbon and five-year-old rye — “the finished whiskey is slow-smithed before bottling to produce what we all strive for … a more perfect union,” the company wrote. The Ivy City distillery is also offering the Madam bottles in an inauguration two-pack with the “I’m Speaking”-engraved bottles of Purpose Rye. (1369 New York Ave NE; Available in store.)

McClellan’s Retreat

If you’re looking to basically drink through the entire inauguration — understandable, with all the security measures in place leading up to it — Dupont craft-cocktail bar McClellan’s Retreat is offering all-day “inauguration kits.” The $46 kit comes with a bottle of Meiomi Sparkling Wine and orange juice for mimosas, two bottles of Miller High Life for the afternoon, and two High West Double Rye Old Fashioneds for the evening. (2031 Florida Ave NW; Order by email Tuesday, Jan. 19 by 2pm. Closed on Inauguration Day.)

Gerrard Street Kitchen

The Gerrard Street Kitchen, located in downtown hotel The Darcy, is offering blue cocktails and mocktails in honor of the Democratic party, Biden, and Harris. Executive Chef Jaime Velasquez’s royal blue “We the People” martini and the “All-American” mocktail are available through the end of January. The restaurant says it didn’t specifically name the ingredients or drinks after Biden out of respect for his abstinence from alcohol. (The Darcy, 1515 Rhode Island Avenue, NW. Takeout only.)
