FRIDAY FEBRUARY 19
CHORAL PERFORMANCE: On Friday, Washington Performing Arts and Choral Arts are premiering their annual tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr — although it looks a little different this year. To ensure the artists’ safety during the pandemic, each singer recorded their part separately and their voices were layered together in post-production. The show will be available online through Thursday, February 25. (8 p.m.; FREE)
YOU’VE GOT MALE: Woolly Mammoth Theatre is back with another show that you can watch from the comfort of your home. On Saturday, stream Hi, Are You Single?, a new performance about “a gay man with a high sex drive and Cerebral Palsy” as he searches for connection on the dating scene. The performance is written and performed by Ryan J. Haddad and loosely based on his own experiences. (Through Feb. 28; $20.99)
UMD LECTURE: This weekend, the University of Maryland is hosting the lecture, “Swarms of Mass Destruction: Are Drone Swarms Weapons of Mass Destruction?” The event will explore this new technology that “has the potential to become a new weapon of destruction akin to chemical weapons, non-contagious biological weapons, and potentially low-yield nuclear weapons.” Drone swarms analyst Zachary Kallenborn will host and participants are invited to submit questions ahead of the talk. Please note that although the event is free and open to the public, registration is required. (11 a.m.-12 p.m.; FREE)
FRIDAY JOY: If you have tots, tune in to Joyful Fridays with the National Museum of African American History and Culture. This Friday’s edition highlights Black women artists and participants will learn how to create a portrait inspired by artist Amy Sherald (famous for painting First Lady Michelle Obama’s portrait). This event is organized for children ages four to eight years old. (11 a.m.-11:45 a.m.; FREE)

SATURDAY FEBRUARY 20
BARK!: This weekend, experience photographer Amy Kaslow’s new exhibit, BARK!, that explores the details and beauty of “trees’ most intricate and protective armor.” Kaslow is a native of the region and opened her in-person gallery last year. The show will be open until mid-March and is also available online. (Amy Kaslow Gallery or online, 1 p.m.-7 p.m.; FREE)
FARMERS MARKET: On Saturday, visit the Columbia Heights farmers market to load up on your bread and produce for the week. The market features merchants including El Sabor del Taco, Hog Haven Farm, and 78 Acres. Please note that coronavirus precautions including masks and social distancing are in effect — and pre-ordering is available for some merchants. (Civic Plaza, Park Rd NW & 14th St NW; 10 a.m.-1 p.m.)

SUNDAY FEBRUARY 21
BUILDING BUSINESS: Mayor Muriel Bowser has proclaimed this Sunday “Business Story Day” in the District. To celebrate, tune in to the “Business Story Day Official Proclamation Celebration,” a conversation with business leaders about how to create a stronger and more inclusive local economy. (3 p.m.-4:30 p.m.; FREE)
ICE SKATING: End your weekend by skating your worries away. The ice skating rink at the Winter Village at Cameron Run is open until the end of the month, which means there’s still time to practice your balance on the ice. Please note that skate sessions are limited to one hour and prior registration is required. (Cameron Run Regional Park; 11 a.m.-5 p.m.; $15)
POP-UP PIZZA: Anafre — the Mexican-inspired restaurant by Chef Alfredo Solis — is now offering pizza. During the pandemic, the restaurant opened a pizza pop-up featuring pies that include El Gallego (with octopus, chipotle aioli, and fresh mozzarella), El Sol Chicharrón (with slow-braised pork and guajillo sauce), and El Golfo (with shrimp, chorizo, and chipotle sauce). (Anafe, a la carte)
This post has been updated to add Choral Arts as a presenter of Friday’s concert.
