WOMEN & OUR STORIES: Start your weekend by tuning into Story District’s new show, 100% All That: Stories by Young Women Making Their Mark. The event is family-friendly and will feature six young women sharing their stories: Autumn Angelettie, Juliette Kane, Marjan Naderi, Sasa Aakil, Willette Oden, and Fly Zyah. ENVIRONMENTAL FILM FESTIVAL: Last year, the Environmental Film Festival in the Nation’s Capital was one of the first events to be canceled by the coronavirus pandemic, but this year, they are back in full force, and in a fully virtual environment. Tune in to catch new films including Youth V Gov, Once Upon a Time in Venezuela, and Gunda — and special shoutouts from Jane Fonda and Senator Ed Markey. (Various times through March 28; $10-$45)
DC IMPROV: Here’s the deal: for $5, you get to see five stand-up comics take the (virtual) stage with DC Improv. This weekend, the lineup includes Prince George’s native Reese Waters, Baltimore native Larry XL, Liz Miele, Rahmein Mostafavi, and Danny Rouhier. (8 p.m.; $5)

SATURDAY MARCH 20
CHERRY BLOSSOMS: It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Join the annual Cherry Blossom Festival as they kick off their celebrations with a (virtual) opening ceremony. On Saturday afternoon, Olympic gold medalist Kristi Yamaguchi and ABC 7’s Michelle Marsh will co-host the event, which will feature performers and artists from both the United States and Japan. The festival lasts through April 11 and participants can view the full line-up here. (6 p.m., FREE)
BOOK SALE: Socially distant shopping has arrived. This weekend, head to the Woman’s Club of Chevy Chase to visit their book, mask, and boutique sale. Items will include books from across genres (including children’s books), housewares and rugs, and homemade masks made by members of the Club. The entire sale runs Friday-Monday. FOOD TOUR: In line with the wider Cherry Blossom Festival, this Saturday is also the first day of Fork Tour’s Cherry Blossom pass, where participants can purchase a pass and redeem it for specials and discounts at food and drink businesses across the region. Most specials offer two-for-one deals or significant discounts off your total — so splitting the pass with a friend in your pod is encouraged. Proceeds go to the Trust for the National Mall’s Cherry Tree Endowment Fund. (Various locations, $30/pass)
ICE YARDS: This Saturday, the Yards DC is kicking off their spring lineup with Ice Yards. Back for the seventh year in a row, the event partners with local restaurants to feature “Ice Yard Outposts” that includes tableside playlists, icy and hot cocktails, and special prizes. The best part? The public can visit the events ice sculpture on the sundeck to “ bid goodbye to the icy winter and hello to spring!” (The Yards Park; various times; $30)

FREE MUSEUM: The indoor Smithsonian museums may still be temporarily closed, but there are other options. This weekend, the National Museum of Women in the Arts is hosting their free community day where visitors can book a free timed pass to view the museum’s latest exhibitions. BAKED: Baked by Yael is back with another cake pop making class. On Sunday, tune in to the virtual class (with real ingredients) and follow along as the chef teaches you how to create the perfect cake pops in the comfort of your home. SHARING GROWTH: On Sunday, Slow Food DC and Lyman’s Tavern are hosting a “Share a Seed” mutual-aid event at the Upshur Community Garden. Participants are encouraged to bring seeds (labeled, domestic only), new/gently used garden equipment, a donation to Ward 4 mutual aid (list here), or a donation to Slow Food DC.
