FRIDAY APRIL 7

INFLATABLE RACE: Kick off your weekend by joining National Landing and Pacers Running for a 5K run, where participants are encouraged to run in their “wackiest inflatable attire.” After the race, participants can head to any of the nearby participating restaurants to pick up a free inflatable flamingo drink holder. Masks will be mandatory at the start and finish of the race (and while passing within 10 feet of another runner). (Crystal City Courtyard Green; 6 p.m.; $40 – $50)

WOMEN’S HISTORY & COCKTAILS: Head to Hotel Zena for an event with A Tour Of Her Own, which focuses exclusively on women’s history. The event will include a conversation about prohibition and women’s roles during the time period. And since it’s not the early 1900s anymore, each ticket includes a paired cocktail flight from Republic Restoratives. (Hotel Zena, 1155 14th Street Northwest, Washington, DC; 7 p.m.-8 p.m.; $35)

SATURDAY MAY 8

GET GARDENING: Ready to kickstart your own garden? Glen’s Garden Market is hosting a seedling sale featuring plants cultivated from their rooftop gardens. The selection of produce will include lettuce, chard, sungold tomatoes — and even non-edible varieties like sunflowers and marigolds. (Glen’s Garden Market; 10 a.m.-2 p.m.; prices vary)

BOAT TOUR: Relax on the water. To celebrate Mother’s Day weekend, Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation is hosting a boat tour and craft event in Patuxent River Park. (16000 Croom Airport Road; 2 p.m.-3 p.m.; $5 for residents and $7 for non-residents)

ART HOP!: On Saturday afternoon Brookland Arts Walk is hosting “Art Hop!” an outdoor event featuring 27 local studios and a dance performance. Participants can expect artisans that specialize in everything from sculpture and jewelry to fine art and candles. (Arts Walk at Monroe Street Market; 1 p.m.-4 p.m; FREE)

CHIHUAHUA PARTY: The annual “Running of the Chihuahuas” is still on hold during the coronavirus — but that doesn’t mean the festivities have to pause too. Participate in the fun by engaging in the costume contents, a screening on prior races (on a 20 foot LED screen), and a screening of Beverly Hills Chihuahua. Expect prizes, swag, and a raffle. (Transit Pier at The Wharf; 3 p.m.-6 p.m.; $30)

SUNDAY MAY 9

MOTHER’S DAY BOXES: Pamper the moms in your life by ordering them a curated gift box from Foxtrot. Featured boxes include the “Mother’s Day Brunch” (with champagne, a mimosa candle, champagne cotton candy, and cookies), the “Mother’s Day Getaway” (with handmade gnocchetti, olive oil, and foodie pairings), or the “Mom’s Spa Day” (with a face mask, berries, wafer cookie, and bath salts). Boxes can be delivered in under an hour. (Prices Vary)

IKEBANA CLASS: Ikebana is the Japanese art of flower arrangement — and this year, you can learn the craft in a special Mother’s Day class from Cultivate the City. Participants will learn a brief history of the art along with the basic rules of how to practice it on their own. Please note that there are two ticket pricing options: one includes the flowers, structure, and class — and one also includes a bowl to display them. (W.S. Jenks and Son; 1 p.m.-2 p.m.; $35-$45)

YOU’RE MY EVERYTHING (BAGEL): What better day to order from Call Your Mother (“a Jew-ish deli”) than Mothers Day? The event will be held in the Queen of Hearts Lounge — and mothers will be gifted their individual tiara and citrus strawberries and cream as they enter. The menu will feature royal-inspired creations from executive chef Jordi Gallardo and executive pastry chef A.J. Thalakka. (Fairmont Washington D.C.; 10:30 a.m.-12 p.m., 1 p.m.-2:30 p.m., or 3:30 p.m.-5 p.m.; $65)
