IN-PERSON CONCERT: Enjoy a night of live music from Capriccio Baroque, a nonprofit of harpsichordists, at their first concert of the season. Two D.C. locals will perform: Patrick Merrill will play harpsichord while Grace Srinivasan will sing vocals of works by Henry Purcell, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Barbara Strozzi, Bach, John Blow, and Handel. QUEER COOKIES: Join Loyalty Bookstores to help virtually celebrate the launch of its Queer Cookies, which is a poetry series, bake sale, and upcoming cookbook all in one celebrating D.C.-area LGBTQ+ poets. Creators Regie Cabico and Tyler French, along with participating poets, will read some poetry, like haikus, and give a taste of recipes, like doubly salted cream cheese caramel brownie bites. ADULTHOOD BOOK CLUB: Join this in-person book talk at Sixth & I to learn how millennials are redefining adulthood. Journalist Kayleen Schaefer used data research and hundreds of interviews to discover how today’s thirtysomethings are living adult life how they choose and redefining adulthood in America. RAINBOW CHALLAH: Learn how to make rainbow challah at this virtual tutorial and discussion from Capitol Hill Village. DOWNTOWN DRIVE-IN: Kick off summer with a classic outdoor movie screening at the National Building Museum’s West Lawn. All summer long, DowntownDC BID will be screening movies that travel through time and space that are scored with an original soundtrack from weekly guest DJs. ROOFTOP DRAG: Keep celebrating Pride with this drag performance at Hedy’s Rooftop at Hotel Zena. The event, hosted by D.C. queen Crystal Edge (of Wunder Garten bingo fame), will feature performances from LaLa Ri and Tatianna from RuPaul’s Drag Race, and from other local drag queens, Katrina Colby, Druex Sidora, and Evon Michelle. NEW EXHIBIT: Head to the Amy Kaslow Gallery in Spring Valley for an opening reception for its latest exhibit: DC Lines. The exhibit includes linear works from four Washington artists, including Elroy Williams, Andrew Kaslow, and Linda Cafritz. (Amy Kaslow Gallery, 6 p.m. reception, on view through August 8, FREE)

SUMMER IN THE PARKS: Summer in the Parks is back! The National Park Service, which ran the popular public program series during the Civil Rights era, brought back the program with food trucks, music from DJ Lance Reynolds, and themed activities each Thursday in June, with events continuing through August. This week, tune into a virtual conversation with the regional cultural anthropologist for NPS, go-go musician Gregory “Sugar Bear” Elliott, and Charles Stephenson, who was involved in the original events. HOW TO HOST: Have you forgotten how to properly socialize and make small talk? Join Dumbarton House for this virtual event with etiquette expert Diane Gottsman for a primer on small group entertaining.
