BARTENDING COMPETITION: Witness the virtual semifinals of an all-female, high-speed bartending competition designed to highlight up-and-coming women in the cocktail industry while raising donations to fight breast cancer. Twelve mixologists from around the country will compete at the Riggs Hotel, including D.C.’s own Faith Alice Sleeper from Crunkcakes, Morgan Barron from Don Ciccio & Figli, and Tina Hatano from Silver Lyan. BASEBALL FOOD: Celebrate the opening of the exhibit ¡Pleibol!: In the Barrios and the Big Leagues at the National Museum of American History by joining the executive chef at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami in a virtual cooking class with elote, Domini-Cubano sandwiches, and pinchos de watermelon and tomatillo. Dayanny de la Cruz will share stories while cooking a meal that represents the culinary cultures and heritage of baseball-loving Latino families — the same themes explored in the exhibit. VIRTUAL ART SERIES: Join Washington Performing Arts for its series Creator’s Notebook: four short films in which artists share their inspirations and journeys into songwriting, painting, storytelling, and more. Up first is local bluegrass and American singer Justin Trawick’s story, filmed at local spot St. Vincent Wine, premiering virtually this week. (8 p.m., FREE)
PRESS SECRETARY: Join the Smithsonian Associates for a virtual conversation with White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki. Psaki will describe recent changes in presidential communication and share insights into the president as a public leader and private person. (7 p.m., $25)

NOMADLAND: Rethinking work after more than a year of the pandemic? You’re not alone: This week Profs & Pints will host a virtual discussion on the growing digital nomad movement among people taking their job on the road. Hear how they do it from West Virginia University sociology professor Rachael Woldoff and Washington & Jefferson College associate business professor Robert Litchfield, authors of the book Digital Nomads: In Search of Freedom, Community, and Meaningful Work in the New Economy. OUTDOOR CONCERT: Head to the Potomac Plaza at MGM National Harbor for an evening of jazz and R&B at their summer concert series. ARTIST TALK: Join Arlington Arts Center for a virtual talk with the artist of its latest installation, an interactive sculpture called “Timepiece Mythos.” Artist Dane Winkler was inspired by origin stories and flood narratives to create the sculpture out of materials from a 100-year-old barn. You can also see the piece for yourself at Arlington Arts Center through Aug. 28. (6 p.m., FREE)
WOLF TRAP CONCERT: Michael Trotter Jr. and Tanya Blount-Trotter come together to form The War and Treaty, serving up an eclectic mix of Southern soul, gospel, country and rock ’n’ roll. Catch them in concert this week at the Filene Center at Wolf Trap. The husband and wife team previously opened for Al Green and toured with the likes of Brandi Carlile and Jason Isbell.
