MONDAY, OCTOBER 25

COSTUME RUN: Join the D.C. Run Crew for a seasonally fit costume fun run! All fitness levels are welcome for the run between three and seven miles, combined with some tabata style HIIT. Meet the crew at the 14th Street Lululemon, and don’t forget the costume! (FREE)

OPEN MIC: Lost City Books hosts an inaugural open mic night for participants to share their original poetry. Hosted by Jonny from the bookshop, the first poetry night is open to poetry of any style or subject for up to 10 minutes of material. Refreshments will be available. (7 p.m., FREE)

TUESDAY, OCTOBER 26

TRICK OR TREAT: Grab some tasty treats safely from a one-of-a-kind M&M Halloween Treat Truck at a couple stops throughout D.C. Residents can grab free costume accessories and Mars Wrigley candy from the truck at Bread for the City Northwest from 12 to 1:30 p.m., Bread for the City Southeast from 2:30 to 4 p.m., or Barry Farm Rec Center from 5 to 8 p.m. (FREE)

HIGH HEEL RACE: The famous annual 17th Street High Heel Race will happen once again in Dupont Circle. The night starts out with a parade of the costumed queens participating at 6:30 p.m., then race time is at 9 p.m. Join thousands of spectators to witness extravagant outfits (FREE)

HORROR FILMS: Learn all about European horror film movements, directors, and studios that are must-watch with American University communications Professor Kylos Brannon at this Profs and Pints event. Prepare to also savor some imported treats while taking in snippets of the films discussed. (Church Hall, 6 p.m., $12)

SPOOKY SERPENTS: Looking to get spooked this week? Head to Potomac Overlook Regional Park for a close look at their resident slithery snakes. Participants can watch the snakes get fed some mice and make their own Halloween snake-themed craft. (5 p.m., $7)

HALLOWEEN BALL: Head to Hotel Zena for a special Halloween art ball with RuPaul’s Drag Race’s own Denali Foxx. The night includes a costume contest with prizes, so wear your best to enjoy cocktails and drag performances from D.C.’s best. (6 p.m., $55)

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 28

PUNK TOUR: Meet Off the Mall Tours at the Gallery Place Metro for its monthly tour all about punk in D.C. The tour will go to former venues that transformed downtown D.C. into a punk haven and tell the stories of those that defined the scene. (6 p.m., $25)

OUTDOOR MOVIE: Yards Park hosts part of the Capitol Riverfront Halloweekend celebration with an outdoor movie night. Gather your friends and enjoy a free screening of the 1991 Addams Family film. Kilwins will be onsite selling Halloween treats. (6:30 p.m.)

MASKERADE: The Anthem hosts a unique masquerade, with COVID-friendly masks, benefiting organization GOODProjects. The cocktail event will include dinner, drinks, and a special music performance you won’t want to miss out on. (6:30 p.m., $50)

DIA DE LOS MUERTOS: Celebrate the upcoming holiday with the National Museum of the American Indian. In recorded Spanish presentations by two renowned Mexican families, “The Sweet Story of Alfeñique” and “The Story of Cartonería Tradicional,” the museum will showcase the traditional art of making figures from sugar and papier-mâché. The program is available on demand at midnight. (FREE)
