The larger-than-life art installation, which was designed by Australian artist studio Amigo & Amigo and crafted in Baltimore, features 22-feet tall illuminated trees covered in holiday decor. CHANUKAH HANG-OUT: Sixth & I hosts a holiday hangout to help Washingtonians lighten up from a tough year. Visitors can also enjoy ice skating, a Christmas market, visits with Santa, and an eatery with local vendors during a themed Sharing and Caring Night. HOLIDAY SALE: Get some of your holiday decorations and support local families facing hardship at the Brent Elementary School’s annual holiday tree sale. Visitors can also buy greenery, poinsettias, winterberry, and Hanukkah decorations, with the option to sponsor the Donate a Tree program or get trees delivered and set up. HISTORY HAPPY HOUR: Tune into the White House Historical Association’s virtual historical happy hour to learn more about how beloved children’s book character Madeline finally got the chance to go to the White House. The idea was conceived between the series creator Ludwig Bemelmans and former first lady Jacqueline Kennedy, but didn’t come to fruition until 2011. Attendees will learn more about the history of Madeline at the White House from Bemelmans’ grandson John Bemelmans Marciano. (5:30 p.m., FREE)
