SCAVENGER HUNT: On Friday, the Mansion on O Street is hosting their Christmas Eve Night Hunt & Sweets event. Here’s how it works: Participants receive a bag of candy and a treasure hunt clue sheet before embarking on a self-guided tour of the festively decorated mansion. (Mansion on O Street; 4 p.m. – 10 p.m.; $50)
IMMIGRANT FOOD: This Christmas Eve, Immigrant Food+ is hosting a holiday brunch, with a menu inspired by holiday dishes from across the world. The menu is revealed only after you reserve a spot — and will only be available this Friday and on New Year’s Eve. (Immigrant Food+; Reservations available 11 a.m. – 3 p.m.; $20 deposit)
SING-A-LONGS: Deck the halls this Friday with the Kennedy Center. On Christmas Eve, the Choral Arts Chorus will perform a selection of holiday classics, plus some sing-alongs. The event will last for one hour and is recommended for children 5 years old and up. (The Kennedy Center; 11 a.m.; $20+)

SATURDAY DECEMBER 25
JEWISH HISTORY: On Christmas, Off the Mall Walking Tours is hosting a tour of Jewish history in the District. The tour begins at Judiciary Square Metro’s North Exit and end near Gallery Place, with an optional meal at Chinatown Express. Per the organizers, “the tour will end in grand Jewish tradition: With Chinese food!” (Tour begins at Judiciary Square; 10:30 a.m.; $25)
LIGHT WALK: On Saturday, Meadowlark Botanical Gardens will be open for a self-guided tour of the grounds’ holiday light display. The tour is 0.6 miles long and is entirely outside — so be sure to dress appropriately for the weather! (Meadowlark Botanical Gardens, 5 p.m.-10 p.m.; $18+)
NATIONAL CHRISTMAS TREE: This weekend, visit the National Christmas Tree in-person by the White House. This year, visitors are invited to go through The Pathway of Peace, a path “surrounding the National Christmas Tree features 58 state and territory trees decorated with ornaments designed by students that are unique to each tree.” (The White House; Tree lights turn on around sunset and shut off at 11 p.m.; FREE)

SUNDAY DECEMBER 26
BOTANIC GARDEN: Close out your weekend by visiting the outdoor holiday light display at the U.S. Botanic Garden. Expect the lush setting of the USBG lit up with lights and adornments, plus some holiday greenery. And of course, the traditional outdoor train display hits the tracks starting at 10 a.m. Advance tickets are not required and the display will be available through January 2. (U.S. Botanic Garden; 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; FREE)
ICE SKATING: Skate all your worries away. On Sunday, head over to the Sculpture Garden at the National Gallery for some time on the ice. For $9 – $10, skaters are granted access to two 45 minute sessions beginning on the hour. Skate and locker rentals are also available on a first-come first-served basis. The Sculpture Garden is one of about a dozen rinks around the region where you can lace up your skates this winter. CONTAINER GARDENING: There’s still time to cultivate a green thumb before the year is over. On Sunday, 3 Stars Brewing is hosting Cultivate the City (the locally-based urban farming company) for class on indoor gardening. For an additional fee, budding gardeners can take home a planter with them. (3 Stars Brewing; $10+; 3 p.m.-4 p.m.)
