Actor John Krasinski was spotted outside the White House Friday morning, apparently filming a new season of the Amazon Video series Jack Ryan.
In the show, Krasinski plays a CIA agent who (among getting into other spy adventures) takes an utterly confusing route to work: The show’s first season in 2018 opened with a commute that took him and viewers along the Potomac, through Georgetown, up through Easton, Md., and somehow finally ending at the CIA’s headquarters in Langley, Va.
By the looks of a clip of Krasinski walking along Pennsylvania Avenue taken Friday morning, he’s doing a great job of sticking to the bit — pausing to look at his phone (check directions?) before coolly playing it off.

He also caught the attention of one second gentleman Doug Emhoff. CBS journalist Sara Cook reported that Emhoff (a man about town, himself) stopped Krasinski on his way to work to say hi, and invited him into the White House.

It’s been a while since the show, based off author Tom Clancy’s Ryanverse novels, released new episodes. The second season aired in the fall of 2019, and the third season wrapped production last fall. A release date for the third season remains unknown, but the show was renewed for a fourth.
Until then, locals have some suggestions of what Jack Ryan might be up to.

Krasinski isn’t the only actor in the Tom Clancy cinematic universe to stop by D.C. In Dec. 2019, actor Michael B. Jordan was spotted with a film crew at Union Station, shooting Without Remorse, a film based off a Tom Clancy novel later released in 2021.
