The French tire company with a side gig as a kingmaker among restaurateurs has announced its 2022 list of Bib Gourmand restaurants in D.C., adding four new establishments to its list of reasonably priced yet delicious eateries.

The Michelin Guide now lists 36 District restaurants as Bib Gourmands, this year adding two restaurants in Petworth, one on the H St. Corridor, and one downtown. To be considered for the coveted designation, restaurants must priced at $40 or less for a meals of two courses plus a dessert or glass of wine.

New Bib Gourmand restaurants are:

Daru, 1451 Maryland Ave. NE.

Daru, named for a type of Indian moonshine made from palm sugar, has been “long-anticipated,” according to Michelin. It’s by some of the people behind Rasika, one of D.C.’s most-renowned Indian establishments, and takes “classic Indian cuisine in a novel direction,” Michelin reviewers say.

Dauphine’s, 1100 15th St. NW

This cavernous downtown creole restaurant “seems a most unlikely candidate for ‘serious food,'” Michelin says, but don’t be deceived — it offers “a delicious tapestry of New Orleans dishes—with zero fuss and maximum flavor.”

Menya Hosaki, 845 Upshur St. NW

Started as a pop-up, Menya Hosaki is “making waves in the city’s ramen scene,” according to Michelin. “Carefully composed bowls feature thin, chewy, house-made noodles accompanied by delicate broths with nuance and depth.”

Honeymoon Chicken, 4201 Georgia Ave. NW

Located in the former Slim’s Diner, Honeymoon Chicken has “old-school vibes,” according to Michelin. Run by Chef Rob Sonderman of the BBQ joint Federalist Pig, this new spot is focused on chicken “brined for 24 hours and fried to crisp perfection.”

Michelin plans to announce its even more coveted star-rated restaurant list next Wednesday, at a grandiose titled “D.C. Star Revelation” event.

The tire company launched its guide to D.C. dining in 2016 to much fanfare, becoming only the fourth U.S. city to be featured.

Currently there is one three-star restaurant in the D.C. guide, three two-star restaurants, and 18 one-star restaurants.
