It’s been a rough week for Metro riders. And it’s only Wednesday!
After a Red Line smoke incident that interrupted Monday morning’s commute, and “network errors” on Wednesday that slowed service on the Red, Orange, Silver, and Blue lines, it looks like service this weekend will only be marginally better.
Red, Green, and Yellow line trains will be running every 15-16 minutes due to single tracking, while the ongoing platform improvement project will keep five Orange Line stations closed.
Here’s more from Metro:
Red Line
- Trains will run every 16 minutes.
- Trains will be single tracking between Silver Spring and Forest Glen to fix leaks.
Blue Line
- Trains will run every 20 minutes between Franconia-Springfield and Stadium Armory, and every 18 minutes between Largo Town Center and Benning Road.
- Trains will not stop at Capitol South due to the escalator replacement project. Free shuttle buses will be provided.
- There will be no train service between Stadium-Armory and Benning Road. Free shuttle buses will be provided.
Orange Line
- Trains will run every 10 minutes, but only between Vienna and Ballston. Riders will need to transfer to and from the Silver Line.
- There will be no service between Stadium-Armory and New Carrollton, as New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood, and Minnesota Ave. stations are closed.
- A local shuttle will run every 15-20 minutes between New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood, Minnesota Avenue and Stadium-Armory.
- Express service will run every 10 to 15 minutes. Express 1 will operate with limited stops at New Carrollton, Landover and Stadium-Armory. Express 2 will operate limited stops at Deanwood, Minnesota Ave and Stadium-Armory.
Silver Line
- Trains will operate every 20 minutes between Wiehle-Reston East and Stadium-Armory only. Riders will need to transfer to and from the Blue Line to continue their trips.
- Trains will bypass Capitol South without stopping, and free shuttle buses will be provided, due to bridge repairs.
Yellow and Green lines
- Trains will run every 15 minutes.
- Trains will single track between Mt. Vernon Square and U Street stations due to rail replacement.
