With the commotion of back-to-school — and life generally — this Labor Day weekend may feel like a very necessary time to take one last gasp of summer. There’s the National Book Festival, fully back in pre-pandemic form, and music galore at the D.C. Jazz Festival.
And with the long weekend, you do have a little more time to bear with Metro delays.
Expect slightly shorter wait times this weekend than last on the Red, and Yellow lines, though there will be single-tracking on the Red and Green lines on Monday.
And some good news for Prince George’s County residents: After this long weekend, five Orange Line stations that were closed throughout the summer are finally set to reopen. The New Carrollton, Landover, Cheverly, Deanwood, and Minnesota Ave stations were closed for three months as part of WMATA’s Platform Improvement Project. The stations will reopen Tuesday.
Trains will be operating on a Sunday schedule on Labor Day.
