The Eastern Market Metro station was evacuated Friday morning, after a rider set a small fire in a train car, according to the transit agency.
A train operator quickly extinguished the fire, and D.C. Fire and EMS reported that one Metro employee was taken to a hospital for evaluation. Vito Maggiolo, a spokesperson for D.C. Fire and EMS, says both the fire department and Metro Police are on the scene investigating.

Service was temporarily disrupted on the Orange, Silver, and Blue lines at Eastern Market, but was restored around 11:30 a.m. Metro says residual delays may be expected.
Metro’s new General Manager Randy Clarke, who has taken to posting selfies of his Metro rides, tweeted that he was stuck on a delayed train this morning as a result of the fire and apologized for the disruption.
Sorry for this morning’s service impacts everyone. I’ve been stuck on a train as well. Talking w/ customer Antione who is also impacted. Earlier reports or a seat on fire on a train at Eastern Market. We are moving. We will update w/ more info after an investigation occurs. https://t.co/Qz1O1dt4qH pic.twitter.com/AvCfPFp3pO
