As Queen Elizabeth II’s state funeral on Monday approaches, some local British establishments are planning to show the televised service as it’s broadcast live in the early hours of the morning.

The state funeral is scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. EST. There aren’t many places in town planning to stream the service — Duke’s Grocery shared condolences after the Queen died last week, but in an email to DCist encouraged “guests and staff to memorialize the Queen in their own personal ways.” The British embassy and consulates will be closed Monday.

But there are a few places planning some kind of event. Here’s a rundown:

The Queen Vic

The Queen Vic in H Street Corridor will be opening its kitchen at 5:30 a.m. on Monday for a screening of the funeral. The bar will open a little later, at 6 a.m. You need to pre-register for the screening here. Tickets are free and will get you in the pub, but seating is not guaranteed and is first come first served. The Queen Vic is asking that attendees be respectful at the screening.

The Brighton

The Brighton, located on the Southwest Waterfront, will be opening Monday at 5:30 a.m to screen the funeral with sound on. Tea and an assortment of pastries will be available. All seating will be first come first served. You do not need to make a reservation.

ABOVEGROUND

Chef Nicholas Martino says it’s wrong for anyone to capitalize off of the queen’s death and will not be doing any funeral screenings or related events Monday. However, Martino says ABOVEGROUND will be giving away free crowns to commemorate the queen on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
