For Metro, it seems like “normal” has synonymous with “delayed.” So, expect a fairly “normal” weekend of Metro operations.
Most lines will run every 15 minutes, with some maintenance work disrupting service on parts of the Red and Green lines. Remember the Yellow Line is out of service until May of next year as the transit agency rehabilitates the Potomac River tunnel and bridge, and a handful of Blue Line stations are closed through Oct. 22.
If you’re heading out this weekend (and braving the possible rain Hurricane Ian might bring to the region), here’s what to know about train operations from Metro:
Red Line
- Trains will run every 15 minutes, and single track between Silver Spring and Forest Glen.
Blue Line
- Trains will run every 15 minutes between National Airport and New Carrollton/Largo Town Center.
- The Franconia-Springfield, Van Dorn Street, King St-Old Town, and Braddock Road stations are closed. Service will be replaced with shuttle buses.
Silver/Orange Line
- Trains every 15 minutes
Yellow Line
- There is no Yellow Line service until 2023. Riders should use the Green or Blue lines.
- Shuttle buses will be provided from 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. An express shuttle will run between Huntington and Pentagon City every six minutes, while a local shuttle will run between the Huntington, Eisenhower Avenue, King St-Old Town, Braddock Road, and Crystal City stations every 10-15 minutes. These shuttles do not stop at the airport, so those traveling between National Airport and Greenbelt should use the Blue or Green line.
Green Line
- Trains will run every eight minutes.
- From the Metro’s opening at 7 a.m. until noon, trains between College Park and Greenbelt will operate every 16 minutes due to track maintenance.
