If you want to be on the inaugural ride out of Ashburn, riders should show up for the first eastbound train to D.C. and Downtown Largo at 1:54 p.m. The first full-length westbound trip will depart Downtown Largo at 12:51 p.m. It will reach Wiehle-Reston East at 2:02 p.m. and then continue to the six new stations: Reston Town Center, Herndon, Innovation Center, Washington Dulles International Airport, Loudoun Gateway, and Ashburn. Customers who ride the extension on the first day will be greeted at stations with commemorative pennants.

But if you want to be Charlie and the Chocolate Factory-level special, WMATA is giving away 50 “silver tickets” that will get you on the sneak peek train with General Manager Randy Clarke before anyone else can ride.

Metro says you can enter a contest by sharing your favorite Metro memory. You can enter on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook and use the hashtag #YourMetroMemory and tag Metro’s accounts. Customers can also email csvc@wmata.com with the subject line: Silver Ticket Metro Memory. Submissions must be sent by 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Fifty people will be selected by noon on Monday and get a chance to bring a guest.

Once open, trains will run on the Silver Line every 15 minutes. Metro has not yet posted the first and last train times at each station, but Metro says they will be posted at wmata.com/rider-guide/stations in the coming days.

Other changes are coming on Nov. 16 when the Metrobus 5A route and Silver Line Express Bus service (operated by the airport) will be discontinued. Meanwhile, local bus service that go to the new station will begin on the same day. Check FairfaxConnector.com and Loudoun.gov/silverline for more information about new routes.
