Local D.C. organizations and LGBTQ bars have been organizing events and fundraisers this week to show solidarity with the survivors and victims of the shootings at Club Q, a LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado Springs. Five people were killed and 25 were injured. The shootings began on the eve of Trans Remembrance Day, which was Sunday.

If you’re looking for ways to support, or for places to find community and heal, here are some local upcoming events and fundraisers to check out. If you see any additional support opportunities around the region, please email us.

Our Rights DC: This anti-fascist organization, which formed this year shortly after the leak of the Dobbs v. Jackson decision, will be marching Tuesday night to show solidarity with Colorado Springs and to protest against anti-trans legislation. Marchers will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Stanton Park.

As You Are BarThis LGBTQ bar in the Capitol Hill neighborhood will be hosting an evening of self care on Wednesday Nov. 23, from 6 p.m. to midnight, on both levels of its building. There will be quieter activities — you are welcome to “sit and be still” and do arts and crafts — but there’ll also be dancing (the bar says song requests are welcome) and table games. Folks can bring cold weather items to donate, such as gently used gloves, blankets, coats, and hats, or books for a book swap.

Claudia Jones School: This political education organization will be hosting a “Drag Against Fascism” fundraiser for Colorado Springs at As You Are on Sunday, Nov. 27 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The fundraiser will feature local drag artists Jane Saw, Molasses, and Ricky Rosé.

There are numerous other ways to support those affected by the shooting at Club Q. Check out this list by Colorado Public Radio, which includes mental health resources, places to donate blood, fundraisers, and tips for coping with gun violence and grief.
