Dine-in: This Falls Church restaurant is offering a scrumptious a la carte Christmas Eve menu. The appetizer options include deviled eggs with pimento cheese and candied bacon, blackened shrimp, and porcini and chestnut soup; the main-course pastas are spaghetti carbonara and fusilli bolognese. Takeout: Don’t feel like toiling away in the kitchen at all on Christmas Day? Bar Ivy’s got you. Its eight-course feast, which is $225 and serves four to six people, can be pre-ordered now through Dec. 21 at 3 p.m., with pickup scheduled for Dec. 23 and Dec. 24 between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. On the menu: maple-glazed ham, potato and leek gratin, braised kale with smoked pork belly, pineapple and spiced rum upside down cake, and more. Takeout or dine-in: Expect lots of festive dishes at Ambar, which will be open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Christmas Eve. You might enjoy the Hunter Beef Schnitzel “Lovacka Snicia” with dry porcini mushrooms, mashed potato, white wine, and slow cooked root vegetables, for example. Or maybe you’re more of a White Urnebes Spread “Trljanica” person: smashed feta cheese with roasted red pepper, spicy red pepper, garlic, and olive oil. Takeout: There are more than a dozen festive things you can order from Neighborhood Provisions to complete your Hanukkah menu. Takeout: The wildly popular and self-described “Jew-ish” deli has got Hanukkah options. Get in your order for a latke platter by Dec. 16 at 4 p.m., for pickup Dec. 18-24. The classic platter includes 12 latkes plus sour cream and homemade apple jam; the deluxe platter levels up with 12 latkes, a half pound of smoked salmon, and sides of sour cream, apple jam, sweet red pepper jelly, creamy horseradish creme fraiche, and pickled cabbage and onion. Dine-in: This restaurant at the Conrad DC is offering specials on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Takeout: What calls for luxury — specifically, Rose’s — if not the holidays? The Hanukkah celebration dinner is $180 and serves two. It includes latkes, beef tenderloin with horseradish sauce, and apple and cranberry cobbler. The Christmas feast, meanwhile, is $205 to $250 and serves two to four people.
