SATURDAY, DEC. 31

FOREST BATHING: The literal translation of the Japanese term “shinrin-yoku” is “forest bath.” Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, is the practice of immersing yourself mindfully into nature and reaping therapeutic and spiritual benefits. We could probably all stand to take a forest bath. Luckily, the National Arboretum is hosting one this Saturday. (The National Arboretum; 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.; $35 suggested donation)

FAMILY NEW YEAR’S: Can’t keep the kids up ‘til midnight? Or can’t muster enough energy to do so yourself? metrobarDC has got you covered with their daytime Family New Year’s Party, which will feature festive cocktails and fun games.
