Entrepreneurial innovation is on the rise in the nation’s capital. Driven by the unrivaled access to public transit, technology networks and a world-class workforce throughout the region, new business formation is up from pre-pandemic levels in Washington D.C. And despite the many economic obstacles small business owners have faced, from rising costs to supply chain disruptions to hiring, two-thirds of local business leaders across the country believe their business is thriving today.
To celebrate National Small Business Week and support the small business community as they continue to navigate challenging times, JPMorgan Chase is hosting a series of events for local small business owners beginning May 1 at Chase’s Community Center branch at Skyland Town Center (2728 Good Hope Road SE Washington, DC 20020). Events include:
• Monday, May 1: Pop-up shop featuring sample products from local business owners
• Tuesday, May 2–Friday, May 5: Small group workshops with industry experts presenting tips on how to market and brand your business
The event is an opportunity for community members to engage and support local businesses like The Museum, an artwork and apparel store and, Glowrx, a skincare company. Local D.C. business Colada Shop, Irresistible Cupcakes and Union Kitchen will also be catering on-site at the pop-up. Chase’s Business Solutions Center will be open to small business owners that day who are looking for advice and resources.
Throughout the rest of the week, business owners can participate in complimentary educational workshops with local experts on topics like branding and social media that will help them take their businesses to the next level. To attend the workshops, register at SmallBizBigThanks.com.
”Small businesses contribute so much to their local economies in D.C. and across the country through jobs, innovation and capital,” said Ben Walter, CEO of Chase Business Banking. “It’s important that we recognize their accomplishments and resilience through challenging times in May and all year long.”
This event is part of the firm’s latest local initiatives to expand on its ongoing commitment to providing D.C.-area business owners with actionable advice to grow and scale their businesses. In 2022, JPMorgan relaunched its annual Business Insights Seminar series in 29 cities, including in Washington, D.C., and has since mentored more than 150 Black, Hispanic and Latino business owners through our free one-on-one coaching program that offers advice on everything from boosting creditworthiness to managing cash flow.
