Butter Me Up has officially opened as a standalone restaurant in D.C., just a mile away from where it began popping up during the peak of the pandemic.

The decades-old theater on 14th Street underwent a massive renovation as part of a $20 million capital project.

“There’s a lot of competition, a lot of great chefs,” in pizza these days, says chef-owner Juan Olivera. “Normal doesn’t cut it anymore.”

The project is expected to be completed in spring 2021.

Its staff says it’s hard not to feel like the feminist/activist apparel shop is a political target.

The simple Mediterranean menu is one of the cheapter prix-fixe offerings in the city.

This news comes at a time of major transition for the 14th Street Corridor.

It was only last October that the New York chain announced “Our balls have dropped!” in D.C.

Co-owner and executive chef Enrique Limardo is fusing ideas from his Venezuelan heritage and international cooking assignments.

Skybox boasts fantastic views of 14th Street and Logan Circle and tasty cocktails, though it’s not exactly straightforward to make it up to D.C.’s newest rooftop bar to scope them out.
