Metro’s 8000 Series Trains Could Have More Room For Bikes And Strollers – And More D.C. Flair
New renderings of Metro’s 8000-series train cars show the transit agency is switching up the trains’ seating configuration, moving forward with the open gangway concept, and adding a touch of D.C. flair to the design.
The new technology will feed audio instructions to users through their phones as they get around Metro’s train platforms and bus stops.

Cheh Wants More Wheelchair-Accessible Taxis in Fleet
Outside the Wilson Building this afternoon, Councilmember Mary Cheh (D-Ward 3) showed off one of the city’s relatively new wheelchair accessible taxicabs ahead of a hearing next Monday at which the D.C. Council will consider a sweeping overhaul to the city’s taxicab regulations.
