D.C. Rollergirls All-Stars Crushed by Carolina
D.C. (#11 East seed) and Carolina (#7 East seed) faced off Saturday at the Dulles Sportsplex for their second match-up in four months — Carolina won a 97-92 nail-biter in February. D.C. had high hopes for a reversal of fortunes, but resignations and injury had dealt hefty blows to D.C.’s roster in the intervening months — instead, the bout turned into the largest defeat D.C. has suffered this season.
It had been a long time coming. The D.C. Rollergirls All-Stars, who had slipped to #11 in the East in the latest rankings, snapped a frustratingly long home losing streak with a decisive 106-64 victory over Providence Roller Derby’s Rhode Island Riveters (#10), improving D.C.’s hopes of making this year’s WFTDA East Region Playoffs.

DC Rollergirls All-Stars Climb a Spot at Regionals
The DC Rollergirls All-Stars came into this weekend’s Eastern Regionals seeded 10th. Of ten teams. Team co-captain Battery Operated told us on Friday that she had modest hopes that the team would climb as high as seventh in the rankings. Respectable performances in defeat against Carolina (#7) and Steel City (#5) in the first two rounds put those lofty aspirations to rest. But our All-Stars did notch a convincing win in their final bout, toppling the Dutchland All-Stars to finish the tournament in 9th place.

Yesterday, we caught up with DCRG All-Star Co-Captain, Battery Operated (real name Suzie, a 29-year old land use planner from Northern Virginia. If we told you any more than that, we’d have to kill you.)
