Whether it was last night’s power outage that ignited a spark in the band or they’ve simply perfected their chemistry, Animal Collective‘s streamlined set was the most consistently electric performance they’ve given D.C. in years.
The power went off fifteen minutes before the projected start of Animal Collective‘s sold out 9:30 Club show. After an hour of waiting, they finally called the show, urging patrons to keep their tickets.
For all the ruckus they made, much of Animal Collective‘s set was surprisingly meditative, leaving the tight knit crowd in a blissful state.
