Before D.C. had a Krispy Kreme, Washingtonians in search of a freshly made doughnut could depend on the two branches of Heller’s Bakery. No More Fine Pastries in Cleveland Park

If you’re looking to enjoy what is reportedly the best schnecken in D.C., you have one day left: Amernick, the bakery of acclaimed Palena pastry chef Ann Amernick, will close its doors tomorrow. According to various sources, the bakery wasn’t profitable, and has been sold to another baker.
