In December the D.C. Democratic Party will select an interim At-Large councilmember to fill the seat vacated by D.C. Council Chair Phil Mendelson.
It seemed like a good homecoming for a well-respected bureaucrat charged with improving and increasing D.C.’s stock of affordable housing. But now it looks like Michael P. Kelly, appointed yesterday by Mayor Vince Gray to run the D.C. Department of Housing and Community Development, won’t have a very welcome homecoming after all.

MWAA To Name Former Postmaster General As New Leader
The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is expected to name former Postmaster General John (Jack) Potter as its new leader. Sounds like a good choice — as we all know, along with being a postmaster, Potter was also a general. And the job of a general is to by god get things done. (Feel free to start with that whole Dulles Rail thing, sir.)
